Ben and Tarka will cover 1800 miles starting from Scott's Terra Nova Hut at the edge of Antarctica to the South Pole and back to the coast again. That's equivalent to 69 back-to-back marathons hauling up to 200kg each (the weight of roughly two adult men) of kit and supplies necessary to survive.
Distances here are shown in statute miles.
Two Months in Antarctica (and a Christmas Message from the ice) (Video)

I can’t thank you enough for sharing these videos with us. After so many years of reading about Scott, Amundsen, Shackleton, etc., so be able to see with my own eyes what the landscape looks like is a rare treat, and I can’t get over how kind it is of you to share all of this with us in addition to all the work you’re doing just to keep moving. The next day or so will be very exciting, and you are in all of our thoughts. A Merry Christmas to you—and what a gift you will receive at 90º!

Thank you for your posts and for this Christmas message. Surrounded in Surrey with old books on polar expeditions but have found your story just as compelling and a privilege to share. Go well, there and back again!

Remember why we do these things: “Not because it’s always pleasant and happy, but because that’s where the meat of life is, “the juice that we can suck out of our hours and days” someone ones said:-) Good luck on the rest of your journey! And merry christmas

Wonderful wonderful! Merry Christmas, sending you all the best from frosty Canada.
We had a serious ice storm here over the last few days. Walking on crusty icy snow, and almost turning an ankle a few times on mini-sastrugi, I thought, oh my! how do they manage!
I think of you both often and wish you all-speed and happiness, smooth running.
Cheers!!

It’s a pleasure to listen to your voice, hear the wisps of the wind, see you guys joking around as well as making strides. Thanks for the gift of inclusion, letting us know how comments help support your efforts, and even encouraging us to keep making posts.
Looking forward to your next post and finding out whether there was an extra special Christmas something in your rations today.
Godspeed!
