    Distance

Ben and Tarka will cover 1800 miles starting from Scott's Terra Nova Hut at the edge of Antarctica to the South Pole and back to the coast again. That's equivalent to 69 back-to-back marathons hauling up to 200kg each (the weight of roughly two adult men) of kit and supplies necessary to survive.

Distances here are shown in statute miles.

Training on Box Hill

I appreciate our updates have been few and far between of late; there’s a lot going on that I’d love to talk about, but that we sadly have to keep under wraps until the expedition is launched formally next month.

For now, here’s a short insight into some of the training we’ve been doing as a team recently, under the watchful eye of our coach, Andy McKenzie and on the slopes of Surrey’s Box Hill, which only a few days previously had hosted the Olympic road race. At a mere 224m (735ft) it isn’t quite Mount Erebus, but it’s a short drive from London, and for our purposes it was plenty steep enough.

I must say, this is absolutely amazing!  What an awesome workout that incorporates teamwork, and pain!  I also admire that you all never take yourselves “too seriously,” as we see by the ice cream at the end.  Your stamina, and dedication to the expedition is an incredible thing to witness.  Keep it up!

Hey guys! Wonderful film, edit, track! It’s very motivating to see your disciple and esprit. How many times did Alastair get you to drag him up the hill?
We wish you all the best.

Hej Ben, i can see on the homepage that the date of start of your expedition is set to October 2013. Does is mean that the Expedition is postponed?

Great film. Any details on the music artist/track? Thanks.

Did anyone else think “shit, ambulance!” at the end?
