    Distance

Ben and Tarka will cover 1800 miles starting from Scott's Terra Nova Hut at the edge of Antarctica to the South Pole and back to the coast again. That's equivalent to 69 back-to-back marathons hauling up to 200kg each (the weight of roughly two adult men) of kit and supplies necessary to survive.

Distances here are shown in statute miles.

Welcome Home Ben and Tarka!

Ben and Tarka have today arrived back in the UK to a fantastic welcome from friends, familiies and partners Land Rover and Intel at Heathrow Airport.

Here are a couple of pictures as they touched down and a snapshot into a report on their return. More to follow shortly....

In the meantime tune in to ITV Daybreak tomorrow morning at 7.45am GMT to hear more from them about their epic adventure.

Welcome home.

...and I just received in the mail today a copy of David Crane’s ‘Scott Of The Antarctic’. Can’t wait to get into it.

Awesome guys. Welcome back home. I agree with Sheila. I wish you could have been there. Hope to hear more from you soon.

“The uploader has not been made available for your country.”

Sad!  Can y’all fix this so that a friendly Canadian can watch?

Cheers, and glad you’re home with all your loved ones!

Cheers!

Kat

The same applies to Germany. Great to read, though, that you arrived back home safely.

# Scott Expedition Team , February 19th 2014

Ah no! We’ll get some of our own footage together and pop it up here asap.

# Sarah, February 25th 2014

I’m across the pond in the U.S. and would love the opportunity to watch this ceremonious video as well! I’ve been following the journey for some time now and can’t wait to hear the details and watch the aftermath! Congratulations gentlemen! I’m trying to spread the good word over here in Washington, D.C.!

# Jörg, February 19th 2014

“The uploader has not been made available for your country.” ... Me too :(

I am in Cape Town.

# Christian, February 19th 2014

Welcome home Ben and Tarka. You deserve a big welcome party. I raise my glass here in Germany to celebrate both of you and your team. Enjoy the time with your family and friends. I guess especially your mothers will have good nights from now on knowing you are back home and save. Regards from Berlin

So good to see you’re home safe and sound. It’s been a very long four months.

# Suzanne Smith, February 19th 2014

Fantastic achievement and memories- well done! Welcome home!

# Ashley Davis , February 19th 2014

wonderful achievement you changed the world for ever and have left a mark that will be with people for years to come . welcome back

# Uncle Pete, February 19th 2014

And from Malawi also looking forward to some video! Good to see you safely back on UK ‘dry’ land! Well done and Congratulations. We have found the perfect place for you to chill out here in the sun on Lake Malawi at Cape Maclear, named by another adventurer, Livingstone, after his friend the astronomer Thomas Maclear - so maybe we could find somewhere to call ‘Antarkatica’? Looking forward to catching up on the full photo/video spread and all the after-chat. Stay safe, I gather they now have ‘crevasses’ appearing in UK!

Welcome home indeed guys.
How busy the world must seem to you after so long in the wilderness.
I really have been missing my daily fix since you completed your journey and the blogs stopped.
It really was fantastic to be able to follow you day by day from the other side of the world.
You have a lot of catching up with friends to do and of course a rather belated Christmas to celebrate with your familes.
Enjoy it all, you’ve earned it.

# Jored, February 19th 2014

Congratulations, Ben and Tarka.

What a shame. After so many of us followed your heroic expedition and sent you hundreds of messages of encouragement, your handlers have chosen to make your homecoming video not viewable outside the UK.

# Kat, February 19th 2014

They’re working on it! (See earlier post from the Team.)

# Christy, February 19th 2014

Marc, thank you so much for posting the YouTube link.  It’s so great to see them!

# Marc, February 19th 2014

I don’t know if this video is official, but at the end of it we can see Ben and Tarka arriving at Ross Island (video, not photo):
