    Distance

Ben and Tarka will cover 1800 miles starting from Scott's Terra Nova Hut at the edge of Antarctica to the South Pole and back to the coast again. That's equivalent to 69 back-to-back marathons hauling up to 200kg each (the weight of roughly two adult men) of kit and supplies necessary to survive.

Distances here are shown in statute miles.

Walking More Than 1000km in Antarctica (Video - Day 50)

In 50 days in Antarctica Ben and Tarka have covered more than 1000km and climbed more than 9,000 feet.

Here's a short video of Ben with an update recorded on day 50.

So amazing to see video from inside your tent at the bottom of the world!

And by the way, nice Kindle ;)
Read any good books lately?

Great vid. So much in 60 seconds.

If anyone wants a Kindle novel about the Antarctic, and Scott’s journey in particular, with a modern love story, my Guardian First Book Award nominated novel, Dead Men, is cheap on Kindle for December only - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dead-Men-Richard-Pierce-ebook/dp/B007FR3UXU.
